Washington College Externship Program January 2027
An externship is a short-term supplemental experience and is sometimes referred to as a job shadowing experience. Like an internship, it provides an opportunity for students to gain experience and exposure to a potential career path by going through a typical day with an experienced employee at a company or organization. These experiences are short in duration (e.g.,1-day, 2-days).
Parker Dewey Micro‑Internships
Micro‑internships offer a fast, low‑risk way to meet motivated early‑career talent while getting real project support. Through Parker Dewey, you can create short, paid assignments that help you evaluate students’ skills and fit. If you’re already a partner, please add Washington College to your featured schools. Recruiter Engagement Week — October 19–23
Join us October 19–23, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm in the Hodson Student Center lobby for a high‑energy, five‑day recruiting event. Meet students exploring internships, research roles, part‑time and full‑time positions, and service opportunities. Attend one day or multiple days — even without current openings, your presence builds visibility and interest.
Workshops, Information Sessions, and Employer Panels
More than 610 students attended workshops last fall, making these sessions is one of the strongest ways to promote your organization and share career insights. Present on industry trends, career paths, or skill development. Sessions run 45–50 minutes and can be held on campus or virtually.
On‑Campus Interviews or Day in Residence
Host interviews on campus and meet multiple candidates in one visit. We’ll handle the logistics. For deeper engagement, consider a Day in Residence that can include any of the following: classroom visits, an info table, office hours, and an information session. This immersive approach boosts visibility and creates multiple touchpoints throughout the day. *Classroom visits are subject to availability and should be scheduled early.

Posting your internships or job openings on Handshake puts your opportunities directly in front of students actively searching and ready to apply. It’s one of the simplest ways to strengthen your campus presence.
