First-Year Students "Freshman Year"

FY Career Awareness Program (AY 2025-2026)

ACCESS YOUR CAREER SUPPORT MATERIALS HERE FROM CLASS!

Welcome to the First Year Career Awareness Program (FYCAP). This program is for all incoming students who are in their first year at Washington College, regardless of class standing (freshman, sophomore, or junior). This program lasts the entire academic year (August 2024 – May 2025). If your class year changes in the spring because of the increased number of credits earned, you will still continue with the program since you will still be in your first academic year at WAC.

This program course has 5 requirements to complete in the fall 2025 semester, totaling 5 points, and 4 requirements to complete in the spring semester, totaling 4 points, for a total of 9 points earned to complete the full year program.

You will only see assignments for the fall semester through December. Spring requirements will be viewable in January.

Please read each assignment in its entirety.

  • The first two assignments (Focus 2 & Orientation) require attendance only. I will upload them into Canvas when you complete them.
  • The rest of the assignments have a reflection exercise and require you to submit your assignment in Canvas to receive the point. The assignments can be completed at any time throughout the semester, as they fit your schedule, but no later than the due date.

If you have a scheduling conflict, please reach out to me as soon as you are aware of it. Notification after a deadline is not acceptable.

Please be aware that some future leadership opportunities, such as Peer Mentors for AY 2025-2026, are contingent upon your completion of this program, so please take this program seriously if you aspire to take on a leadership position at WAC.

If you have any questions about the program, please contact me, Lisa Moody, Program Manager, FYCAP at lmoody2@washcoll.edu immediately.
