First-Year Career Awareness Program (FYCAP) – Discover
The First-Year Career Awareness Program (FYCAP) helps new Washington College students build a strong foundation for career exploration, professional development, and campus engagement. Open to all students in their first academic year at Washington College, the program introduces key career resources, encourages self-reflection, and helps students develop skills that support future academic and career success.
Throughout the year, students complete a series of required engaging activities, workshops, and reflection assignments designed to help them:
- Explore career interests and strengths
- Learn about campus resources and opportunities
- Build professional skills and confidence
- Develop meaningful connections across campus
- Prepare for future internships, leadership roles, and career experiences
Some program components require attendance at designated events, while others include reflection activities submitted through Canvas. Students are encouraged to review all assignment instructions carefully and complete requirements by the posted deadlines.
Participation in FYCAP demonstrates a commitment to personal and professional growth and may serve as a foundation for future leadership opportunities on campus.
