Welcome to the Washington College’s Faculty and Staff Community!

Our Career Development Staff is ready to partner with you to bring great career development experiences to your students. We have a wealth of options in our toolbox that can supplement your program to engage with your students. Common programs include:

Class Presentations: We are prepared to present a career-related topic to your class either in-person or remotely and will provide support materials to engage your students. Popular presentations are: Resume Building, LinkedIn Development, Social Media Presence, Interview Preparation, First Impressions, Business Etiquette, and more. Please ask us if you would like a topic that best fits with your curriculum.

Major and Discipline Exploration: Every year, the center offers programs which help students explore career options while choosing a major or course of study.

Mock Interview Programs: We will support your classwork with a tailored mock interview program and report back with detailed evaluations and outcomes.

LinkedIn Kit: We have a new LinkedIn Kit which includes a dynamic checklist (via a shared document) and two videos. Students participate over a prescribed period of weeks to improve and elevate their LinkedIn while learning how to use this vital career management tool.

Career Boot Camps: We partner with faculty and courses to bring a series of career development workshops. Popular boot Camps include: How to write a cover letter, How to write a personal statement, Graduate School Preparation, and Career Exploration.

Graduate School Exploration & Application Support: All our advisors are generalists and work with all students on all topics. We are delighted to meet with students throughout their graduate or gap program exploration.

We have a host of technology available for you to peruse on this website, CareerConnX.washcoll.edu (please bookmark us), and over 200 resources. Technology platforms includes HANDSHAKE (a career management tool for students), GoinGlobal (Ideal for all students including international students, looking for opportunities in the US & abroad), FOCUS 2 (an exploration tool), Clifton Strengths 34 (Ideal for Leadership & small seminar groups to develop natural talents, collaborative skills, & leadership), VAULT GUIDES (under the Resources Tab, you will find dozens of detailed career guides on every topic under the sun!), LINKEDIN (guides to help students build and manage their LinkedIn Presence).

Drop-in Hours is offered multiple times a week to provide a “drop-in” opportunity for students to ask quick questions about anything – and specifically their career!  Drop-in Hours will be on Mondays and Thursdays from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm in the glass vestibule of the Career Center. Students can come and get help with LinkedIn, Resumes, learn new technologies…whatever is needed. We can help!
