Under the supervision of the Environmental Health Director the Vector Technician will support specific public health preparedness and response activities such as conducting surveillance activities including; conducting mosquito trapping and tick dragging, identifying which mosquito and tick species are present; setting and maintaining bait traps; assisting with mosquito abatement measures if needed. The Vector Technician will also conduct community-based education activities for mosquito-borne and tick-borne diseases, including: developing and manning displays, creating power points, writing news releases and public service announcements, developing educational materials, using social media, etc.

Desired candidates should have some basic knowledge and interest in vector and vector borne diseases
Experience & Required Skills:
- Have strong writing and presentation skills along with being very detail-oriented.
- Proficient and very capable with word processing/editing functions in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Must be an effective team member as well as able to work with people outside of the office environment.
Special Requirement: Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License, a cell phone and reliable transportation, as work-related travel is required.
Salary and Fringe Benefits:
This is a contract position running from May 12, 2025 to August 28, 2025 and is located in the Three Rivers Office; 60 hours per two-week pay period with a wage of $14.00 per hour. Mileage Reimbursed at the Federal Rate .70/mile.
