About the founders
Stephen Turban is the co-founder of Lumiere and is a Harvard College graduate. After studying at Harvard, he worked at McKinsey & Company across the Boston & Beijing office. He started Lumiere as a PhD student at HBS. He grew up in and out of Asia, studying high school in Taipei, and living in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Dhruva Bhat is the co-founder of Lumiere and an Oxford DPhil. Dhruva and Stephen met as students at Harvard College. After Harvard, Dhruva received a Rhodes Scholarship to study his DPhil at Oxford. Dhruva also previously worked at Bridgewater Associates, the largest hedge fund globally, and served as coach of the India national debate team.
About the team and your role
In the role, you’ll work directly with Stephen and Minru Zhao (Founding China CEO/Head). Minru is a University of Richmond and Columbia University alumna, with a wide range of experience in the education industry, including venture capital, non-profit, and tech start-ups in both the U.S. and China. Minru built Lumiere’s presence in China from 0 to 300+ students and multi-million in revenue within 1.5 years of joining.
The two-year management trainee framing is structural. Leading growth in China is your primary role, but we intentionally want to give you exposure across different functions and verticals within Lumiere Education Group. The intent is to set you up for a broader leadership role at month 24.
Job responsibilities
As a Growth Management Trainee on a two-year track, your primary role is leading growth for all programs under Lumiere Education in China. You’ll build and deepen relationships with educational consultancies and admission counselors who recommend students to our research programs. This position is best suited for an ambitious, fast-moving, education-focused early-career professional.
Specifically, the responsibilities include:
- Build new partnerships with educational institutions and individual counselors
- Maintain and deepen relationships with existing partners to introduce new products and recruit students
- Coordinate with partners and faculty during the program to ensure students have a positive experience
- Develop new growth strategies to expand our presence in the China market

- Competitive base salary monthly 10k to 20K

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a top university (preference for top 30 U.S. universities or LACs, or equivalent globally)
- 0–2 years of work experience; recent graduates encouraged to apply
- Excellent spoken and written English and Mandarin
- Strong interest in international education, business development, or partnership growth
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and determination to get the work done
- International experience, e.g., having studied, lived, or worked in international contexts
- Comfortable working with high autonomy in a fully remote setting
