Job Title: Human Resources – Student Intern

General Purpose of the Job: Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources – Student Intern position is responsible for partnering with HR staff to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HR Student Intern participates in special projects related to administration of the employment process, staff development and training, benefits and compensation, and compliance with state, Federal, and all applicable regulatory requirements as well as Agency personnel policy and procedures. The primary focus areas within this position are aligned with the current special project needs of the Agency, (Recruitment and Retention, Benefits and Compensation, and Staff Training & Development).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific Duties:
1. Provides administrative support to the HR team to implement human resources information system software (HRIS) (applicant tracking, onboarding, etc.) to ensure full utilization of the HRIS.
2. Evaluates, researches and revises NCIA’s new employee orientation presentation (NEO PowerPoint/speakers notes) to incorporate existing information and include best practices to enhance NEO experience.
3. Researches and develops/modifies NCIA’s Exposure Control Plans to include Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communications (Right-to-Know) and Tuberculosis for presentation to the Agency Safety Committee for review and approval.
4. Assures compliance with state and Federal employment laws, Agency policies and all applicable regulations and standards.

Education and/or Experience:
- Participation in a Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university in a field related to human resources; or course work or professional training in the area of human resources.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel,
- Proficient using email software: Microsoft Outlook
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, and personnel information systems.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
