POSITION SUMMARY:
The Social Media & Communications Intern is a part-time position that works as part of the Business Development team and is primarily responsible for assisting with social media initiatives including content development, account management, monitoring, and engagement, as well as other duties based on the interest of the individual and the needs of the company. Candidates who are able to accommodate a hybrid schedule shall be strongly considered, but remote opportunities are available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Social Media & Communications Intern is primarily responsible for assisting the Communications Specialist in performing the following essential functions:
Content Planning and Calendar Management:
- Develop and maintain a content calendar to plan social media posts and campaigns.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely and relevant content.
Content Creation and Research for Social Media:
- Track and research trends, possible content ideas, and campaigns for Rite of Passage social media to take advantage of.
- Develop and produce engaging content for various social media platforms, including text, images, videos, and graphics.
- Ensure content is consistent with the brand voice and message.
Social Media Management:
- Schedule and publish posts on all essential social media platforms including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Tik Tok.
- Follow an approval process for content through advanced planning and creation for all social media platforms
Engagement and Community Building:
- Interact with followers, fans, and subscribers to foster a sense of community and engagement.
- Identify ways to grow our engagement opportunities with current and future audiences.
Social Media Analytics and Reporting:
- Track and analyze social media metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns, posts, and initiatives and use that data to inform plans for future posts.
- Prepare regular reports on social media performance, providing insights and recommendations.
Media Pitching:
- Research and identify media outlets and journalists to build media lists that are relevant to the brand through a PRM platform.
- Craft compelling pitches to secure media coverage.
Press Release Writing:
- Draft and edit press releases to announce exciting company news, impactful stories, or other relevant moments.
Idea Generation and Brainstorming:
- Collaborate with the team to generate creative ideas for social media content and campaigns.
- Stay updated on industry trends and competitor activities to inspire fresh content ideas.
Coordination with a Variety of Teams:
- Work closely with marketing, PR, and creative teams as well as program leadership to align social media and communications efforts with strategies, goals, and initiatives of the individual sites and the organization as a whole.
- Ensure cohesive messaging across all communication channels.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong writing and proofreading ability required.
- Familiarity with Windows applications.
