*This position is located in the Goldsboro area of North Carolina and includes travel to multiple client sites through the region, with potential travel outside of the region as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing weekly specialized individual and group music therapy sessions for individuals on the Autism spectrum and who are otherwise neurodivergent
- Building and maintaining strong therapeutic relationships with clients, families, and teachers
- Developing therapeutic goals through assessment and evaluation
- Maintaining documentation that accurately reflects client outcomes through completed professional reports
- Submitting client documentation in a timely manner according to organization policies
- Working on programming development opportunities within the organization
- Participating in team and staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and Voices Together events

The ideal candidate enjoys and is skilled in group session work, has a good knowledge of basic counseling and therapeutic methods, is energetic, collaborative, and works well with a team. Team values include demonstrating professional communication skills, integrity in managing working hours, and prioritizing the client’s best interests. Our therapists serve various counties across North Carolina. The candidate will be a crucial part of our team, and Voices Together will provide peer support in all locations. Reliable transportation is a must.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in music therapy is required.
- Board certification or ability to obtain board certification within the first 30 days of hire
- The ideal candidate will have three or more years of experience working with clients ages 14-21 who are neurodivergent.
- Experience building strong therapeutic relationships with clients
- Knowledge of the assessment process and progress notes
- A demonstrated commitment to meeting high clinical standards in a professional setting, including but not limited to leading groups, self-accompaniment on piano, recruiting clients, songwriting, developing curriculum, showing initiative/innovation, exhibiting leadership skills/problem-solving skills in communicating with team and CEO.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in basic counseling/verbal processing skills
- Promotes a positive and energetic group environment
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance
- Experience working in a group therapeutic setting preferred
- Experience working with neurodivergent individuals preferred
- Songwriting ability preferred
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds of musical equipment (wagon/cart provided)
- Ability to travel to multiple locations, including counties outside the hired region.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.

About Voices Together:
Voices Together is an innovative non-profit organization located in North Carolina. We currently serve clients within school districts and the community across the state. Voices Together uses our specialized VOICSS® model to increase communication, social/emotional learning, and self-efficacy for autistic, neurodivergent, and individuals with I/DD. Our proprietary method is evidence-based and considered a best practice, supported by a strong research partnership with Duke University. Voices Together is expanding in Pre-Employment Transition Services through our work with the NC DHHS Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. We are also in the process of diversifying and expanding our outreach programming.
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
