The Center for Career Development hires a team of marketing, social media, and public relations interns most semesters who focus on developing and executing campaigns to support our important work. Posting for these positions can be found on PayCom or at the student portal which is easily accessed at MyWashColl. Internships are ten weeks long and culminate in a group project and presentation.

Example job description for a Communications Marketing Intern
Introduction
This is great opportunity for an older student who is interested in marketing, communications or these functions in a different field and wants to connect to the Career Center. Students will learn a range of tech skills, career competencies, and gain knowledge and qualifications. They will participate in a robust Clifton Strengths mini leadership program. This experience is considered a practicum to build upon the NACE career Competencies.
POSITION
This role will support the Career Center as a student- voice on social media, CCX Blogs and other communications vehicles.This role will serve as a central student leader to help design and manage the activities of the Career Ambassadors.
DESCRIPTION, WHAT YOU WILL DO.
Under the supervision of the Asst Director, the Career Communications Intern will support 360 degrees of all aspects of the Career Center programming including but not limited to, CareerConnX website blog, the Ambassadors/Apprentices program, and social media (Instagram) stories. The intern will be responsible for the TV screen in Hodson, managing Hodson Hours (if we believe these will work) and interfacing with the ambassadors and developing a schedule. The intern will check in with Penny when performing in person functions and support all trainings for all other interns in the office which includes the Collateral Intern and the Career Ambassadors.
The Career Communications intern will meet with the supervisor/Asst Director 1X a week to review the program grid outlined on a google spreadsheet and the to do list outlined google doc. All materials will be generated from the PDW scheduled prepared by the Assoc Dir.
Expectations include and can be adjusted to accommodate academics and well-being:
- Manage weekly schedule & meet for 30 minutes every week to go over project status.
- Maintain google status tracker with Georgina, manager.
- Complete projects on time; keep manager informed to maintain balance and professional communications.
- Communicate using SLACK and keep notifications on during working hours. Respond within a set time frame.
- Stop into center as needed to support Ambassadors/ Apprentice program.

- The intern will research and present a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation about a single topic that affects the career center (example, campus groups or movie stands).
